Dated fabric was just one problem for this classically styled sitting chair. At some point in its history, a resourceful do-it-yourselfer reupholstered the chair. We had never seen fabric used quite like this for spring webbing before, but had to admire its patchwork quilt look!
After removing all the old fabric and padding, the frame finished out nicely in a period dark mahogany color with a matte sheen.
Conventional nylon webbing, synthetic burlap and high resiliency foam may not look as interesting as the old patchwork, but the comfort and durability will last many, many years.
Kravet’s Eco-Friendly Ultra Suede is the cover. It combines the aesthetic appeal of suede with the performance of microfiber. Performance, ease of care and an updated look were the concerns for the chair that would get daily use in a contemporary setting.
