We are asked to work pieces from contemporary to antique. The three table and three chairs featured this month are from a variety of time periods showcasing different styles and woods.
First, a contemporary coffee table made with oak veneer. Part of a living room set, our customer choose to refinish the damaged top instead of purchasing all new tables. Wise choice.
The 1920’s and 1930’s produced lovely pieces as evidenced by beautiful tilt-top mahogany side table.
The striking wood grain is the focal point of this tea table dating from the early 1900’s we think. The carvings are just the finishing touch.
On this chair, the carving is the focal point. Pieces were brought in, some broken, but the quality and design were evident even in that condition. Probably the earliest piece pictured here, we date it to the late 1800’s.
Office chairs have definitely changed over the years. This classic, early 1900’s oak swivel chair has a look and feel the modern chairs can’t match.
When a grandchild is on the way, we often see family high chairs come in to be redone in preparation for the baby. While this maple example probably dates around 1940 or so, we’ve had some come in much older. What a nice way to tie generation to generation.
